Nellie Jean Wolfe Smoke - widow, mother, aunt, Nana, dear friend - left this world September 12, 2017 to join the heavenly chorus in the alto section. Born February 21, 1930 in Teague, Texas; she spent her life in Baytown. A graduate of Robert E Lee High School, where she was a Brigadier, Jean attended Lee College and worked as an office specialist for ARCO Chemical for over 20 years. She was a charter member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. Always active in her Sunday school class, she spent many years working in the church office and library, as well as singing in the choir. Crafting, sewing, reading, and playing cards and dominoes were her joys. She returned the joy many fold to her family and friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, James F Smoke; her father, Wade Wolfe; her mother, Rena Kilgore and her sister, Beth Albright. Survivors include her three children James F Smoke Jr (Jim) and wife, Mary, Jerri Roberts and husband, Steve, and Judy Guerra; eight grandchildren, Chris Smoke and wife, Amanda, Nathan Smoke and wife, Kate, Jason Smoke, Jennifer Roberts and husband, Ruben, Sherri Anthony and husband, Shawn, Michael Guerra and wife, Kelly, Michelle Cox and husband, Kevin, and Caitlyn Guerra, and 15 great grandchildren.
Services at Navarre Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday September 15, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday September 16, 2017 at 10 am at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Mark Broussard. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Smoke, Nathan Smoke, Jason Smoke, Ruben Roberts, Kevin Cox, Michael Guerra, Shawn Anthony, and Trace Smoke.
