Loretta Ann Clift of Baytown, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 in a Baytown hospital at the age of 69. Loretta was born October 6, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas. While she lived in other locations such as Ingleside and Alief, Loretta lived most of her life in Baytown. Loretta was a 1960 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Stephen F. Austin University. She was retired from Pennzoil where she worked as an accountant and group supervisor. She was a member of the American Society of Women Accountants and served as an officer in that organization as well.
Loretta's hobbies included reading, genealogy, collecting Swarovski crystal, and NASCAR racing. She was an avid NASCAR fan and even kept statistics on her favorite drivers. Loretta was also instrumental in the establishment of a small family-owned oil production corporation known as C- Bar Production, Inc. She worked with other members of her family to create and name the family enterprise and donated her time and expertise in keeping books for the company.
Loretta's greatest pleasure in life was her family. Holidays were a favorite time for Loretta during which she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially relished the family reunions at the Seguin home site in which generations of the Clift family and other close friends of the family would convene for an old-fashioned two or three day celebration.
Loretta Clift was a generous aunt as she shared her resources with all of her nephews and she was always available to provide financing for all members of the family. Loretta was a caregiver and encourager to her Aunt Florence during the terminal illness which eventually claimed her aunt's life. She visited her aunt regularly, drove her to doctor appointments, and helped to provide for her aunt's needs during a difficult time of her life.
Through the years, Loretta's greatest passion and dedication were directed toward her own mother. She was a devoted daughter who was proud to be her mother's best friend during adulthood and her mother's primary caregiver during later years. When it became necessary, Loretta was always available to drive her mother to doctor's appointments, hair appointments, fingernail treatments, the grocery store, and any other place that her mother needed or wanted to go. Loretta spent hours with her mother providing companionship and loving care.
Loretta Clift was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Wallace Clift and her brother, William R. "Bill" Clift. Survivors include her mother, Jewell M.
