Linda Barajas Benavides, 64, was born on August 8, 1949 in Baytown, Texas and passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 17, 2013. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she taught CCE, was a member of the Guadalupanas Altar Society, and the church choir. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vicente and Gertrudis Nieto and Ester and Luz Barajas and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Librado Benavides; son, Michael Benavides; granddaughter, Julien Benavides; parents, Elvira and Raymond Barajas; brother, Raymond Barajas; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Gene Salinas; sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Rick Coy; nephews, Chris and Jon Salinas; nieces, Larisa and Marisa Coy; mother-in-law, Dolores Benavides; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lupe and Eva Benavides and family; Ignacio and Sheila Benavides; Xavier and Dolores Benavides and family; Joe and Cheryl Benavides; Eliazar and Lisa Benavides and family; Ruben Benavides and family; Benny and Lanette Benavides and family; Louis and Sandra Benavides and family; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Yolanda Garcia and family; Janie and Juan Paiz and family; and Ida DeLuna and family. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, and friends.

Linda graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas. She was employed by Exxon Research for 10 years, Goose Creek CISD – Stephen F. Austin Elementary for 5 years, and was the director and owner of Little Baytonians Daycare Center for 18 years.

Linda was known by an abundance of relatives and friends as being the "Life of the Party". Her smile was contagious to everyone she encountered. Linda brought laughter and joy during good times and bad times. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda's number one priority was being surrounded by family. No one was a stranger in her life. She was a positive role model to all of the children she embraced. One of her favorite quotes to her husband was "Te Busque, Te Ame, y Nunca te Olvidare" translated to "I found you, I loved you, and I'll never forget you".

Arrangements are under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521 (281) 422-8111. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, November 22, 2013, the procession will depart Navarre Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1124 Beech St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Father Francis Asomkase, S.S.J. officiating the service. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown. Pallbearers will be Michael Benavides, Chris Salinas, Jon Salinas, Robert Estrada, David Nieto, Ricky Garcia, Bobby Garcia, and Shawn Reyes.
