Lela Belle Skinner, 91, of Baytown, TX passed away on September 29, 2017 in Baytown, TX. She was born April 6, 1926 in Brookeland, TX.
During the depression she worked sweeping a grocery store floor to help the family after her dad was killed. Obviously, it was a difficult time for them, but their positive outlook and spizerinctum kept them going! Belle had many jobs but her first love was music. She played and sang every opportunity she had. All those around her were inspired. She played piano at church for years, and the accordian at singings/family reunions. She married Bud Davis in 1947 and had 3 girls, the first passed. Then, as a widow, she married Rich Skinner in 1978 and became an instant mom to his daughter. Belle was a wonderful mother. Always wanting to help her girls achieve their best.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Polk; first husband, Bud Davis; daughters Lawanna Davis and Susan Keeter and four siblings.
She is survived by her current husband, Rich Skinner; daughters, Pennie Rodriguez and Tammie Petty and husband, David; step-children, Steve Skinner and wife, Seleste and Larry Skinner and wife, Cara; grandchildren, John Motter and wife, Jasmine, Joseph Motter, Christy Bandy and husband, Ty, Michael Skinner, Christopher Russel and wife, Amanda, Holly Canady and husband, Charlie Chris Ranne and Nicholas Ranne; 4 great grandchildren as well as many other family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home located at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown, TX. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at Navarre Funeral home with burial to follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
