Jennifer was born on September 29, 1978 in Houston, Texas to Linda and Malcolm Johnston. Jennifer grew up in Cove, Texas on the 6-acre family home and considered herself a tomboy who preferred to play in the mud rather than with dolls. She enjoyed riding the tractor with her father while helping him plant the garden and couldn’t wait to pick the vegetables during harvest season. She also loved running and playing with her three chow dogs, Hawg, Wolf and King.
She graduated from Lee College with an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies and Business. Jennifer enjoyed crafting, baking, cooking and dancing. She loved floating the Frio River, cheering on her favorite football team, the Houston Texans, and she loved playing with our dog Doodle. She was a friend to many and known as a free spirit. Jennifer had an uncanny sense of humor and took joy in making people laugh.
She was a creative, tenacious, loving and kind individual who loved her children and encouraged them to follow their dreams and pursue their goals. Jennifer was an active and dedicated member of the parent’s organization at her son's school the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas serving as Vice President. She was also often seen in the crowd at many of her daughter’s cheer competitions as a spirit supporter. Tyler and Zoe will remember her as an outgoing, bubbly, fun-loving mother with a beautiful soul and smile.
Jennifer was loved by many and will never be forgotten. Heaven gained an angel and a hero. As an organ donor, Jennifer donated her heart valves, liver and kidneys. Her liver was donated to a 57 year old man. He lives because of her courage and generosity, as will the final recipient of her kidneys. Her heart valves will be used to help children with heart defects.
